New Music Monday: That Fresh Motzart Just Dropped

NME - A previously unknown piece of music composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when he was probably in his early teens has been uncovered at a library in Germany. The newly discovered piece which is referred to as Ganz kleine Nachtmusik and has been estimated to be dated somewhere around the mid-to-late 1760s. It is comprised of seven miniature movements for a string trio lasting about 12 minutes. It's suggested that the work was written before Mozart’s first trip to Italy.

Holy shit! The teenage music prodigy has done it again. I know exactly what I'm going to be listening to on repeat and making my personality for the foreseeable future - Ganz kleine Nachtmusik. Pass me the aux chord, and be prepared to have your eardrums melted down into your brain. This new Mozart is fire flames, and exactly what we needed on a Monday. A 12 minute song !?! Nowadays we are lucky if a song is 2 minutes, they just don't make music like this anymore. This track just sounds like a dude who is giddy as fuck about traveling to Italy for the first time, you can hear it in the string ensemble.

IMO this is so much better than his newer stuff after Mozart sold out, and it's for sure no Ludwig van Beethoven, but it's better than nothing. Dropping big time bops from the grave like 2pac or Juice WRLD, only Mozart has to have set a record by posthumously releasing another banger 233 years after he died of a fever at 35 years old.

It sucks when your favorite musician passes away, and you'll never hear new music from them. When Tom Petty died, I was devastated that he'd never put out another song, and even worse I kept putting off seeing him live because I figured I had plenty of time to catch a show. Same thing with The Eagles and Glenn Fry. I'm sure 3/4 of the band is great with Glenn's son replacing him, but it isn't the same. Go see your favorite musicians whenever you can, wherever you can. Chances are you won't get lucky with new music 233 years after their death. If you won't listen to me, listen to Clem ...
